This topic provides an overview of a typical new hire process at a staffing company. Your site's process may differ slightly. Before you can complete the steps in this process, all setup must be complete. 

New hire orientation

Provide the new hire with your company's orientation materials and procedures:

• Handbook
• Safety orientation/video
• Testing

Complete new hire paperwork

Complete any necessary paperwork for the new hire, such as:

• W-4 and I-9
• Employee EEO
• Direct Deposit form
• Handbook acknowledgement
• Safety form
• Other acknowledgement/agreement forms

Conduct company checks

Conduct any required company checks, such as:

• Drug screen
• E-verify
• DOT check
• Physical exam

If the new hire does not pass the minimum required checks, change the status to Removed. If required checks are passed, then continue.

Employee information verification

Complete verification steps for hiring the new employee:

• Input tests completed
• Input certifications verified
• Determine Employee’s ACA Eligibility in the ACA Eligibility tab
  • Yes if Full-Time
  • No if Part-Time or Variable hour
• I-9 validation within three business days
• Attach other employee-related documents
• Input requirements met
• Enter emergency contact information
• Verify or perform payroll setup for the employee:
  • Taxes
  • Benefits
  • Deductions
  • Direct-deposit
  • Accruals
• Verify skills, education, and past work history
• Verify birth date

Activate employee

Update Avionté to indicate the new hire is now an active employee:

• Change employee status to Active
• Employee is now eligible for assignment
